An Agni Kai is a traditional firebender duel that is centuries old. It is a fight for one’s honor and is won only when one opponent burns the other. Prince Zuko got his scar as the result of an Agni Kai, although he did not actually fight once he realized that his opponent was his father. The outcome of an Agni Kai affects the honor of both opponents. These duels are a popular method of resolving conflicts and are a source of entertainment for all spectators. The Royal Palace even houses a special Agni Kai chamber.

Koh the Face Stealer is one of the most ancient and knowledgeable spirits of the Avatar universe. Possessing the body of a gigantic centipede-like creature, Koh can change the appearance of his face to that of any in his collection at will. Upon seeing anybody or anything express emotion, Koh can steal its face.

Dual dao swords or broadswords are forged with metal and were used as weapon by Zuko during his banishment. They can also be used individually as single-edged swords. Broadswords have been seen in the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation.

The dragon is the original practitioner of firebending, capable of breathing fire. It passed on this ability to the Sun Warriors’ civilization, a precursor to the modern day Fire Nation. Nearing the end of the Hundred Year War, the dragon was thought to be extinct, due to General Iroh’s claim that he had killed the final one, following Fire Lord Sozin’s tradition of hunting them. However, Aang and Zuko discovered that two, Ran and Shaw were still alive, deducing that Iroh lied to protect the species.
